HabitatVery unusual Sphagnum dominated fen in second growth redwood forest. Uncommon, Western fen margin, typically on wood in willow thickets on fen edge. Tufted 3-6 dm tall, With: Sequoia sempervirens, Carex cusickii, Scirpus microcarpus, Athyrium filix-femina, and Salix lasiolepis.
