Locality Southern Sierra Nevada: Sand Canyon, along Sand Canyon Road, between 200 m SE of jct with Shumaker Rd (main population) and 130 m SE of jct at Tranquility Rd (scattered plants)

HabitatMain population in moist swale at transition from Juniperus cal. woodland to Ericameria nauseosa scrub; scattered plants along roadside in nonnative grassland with native herbs and Ericameria nauseosa scrub on the terrace edge above Sand Creek.

macromorphologyLIght yellow-flowered annual smelling strongly of green apple. About 500 plants observed in main population with +/- 10 individuals scattered NW-ward along the S side of the road. One individual observed at the edge of Sand Creek. Layia glandulosa common in the area, but not observed growing immediately with L. heterotricha.
