HabitatSTEEP SLOPE WITH GRANITIC OUTCROP AND LARGE FALLEN BOULDERS FROM GRANITIC CLIFFS ABOVE. SANDY LOAM SOIL BETWEEN BOULDERS. RECENT DISTURBANCE ASSOCIATED WITH POWER LINE MAINTENANCE. OTHERWISE, CANOPY WOULD BE CLOSED WITH UMBELLULARIA CALIFORNICA, QUERCUS WISLIZENI SSP. WISLIZENI, AESCULUS CALIFORNICUS, SAMBUCUS MEXICANA, CEANOTHUS INTEGERRIMUS. IN TALLUS AND BEDROCK AREAS, GRASSES AND ERIOPHYLLUM CONFERTIFLORUM DOMINATE. CAREX TOMPKINSII IS OCCASIONAL ON THIS SLOPE WITH SMALL CLUSTERS UNDER OVERHANGS OF BOULDERS AND IN THE SHADE OF LARGE QUERCUS TREES. VERY OCCASIONAL EMERGENT QUERCUS CHRYSOLEPIS AND PINUS SABINIANA. SLOPE IS 60 PERCENT. ASPECT IS 164 DEGREES. SURFICIAL GEOLOGY IS GRANITIC. COWARDIN SYSTEM IS RIVERINE. SOIL TEXTURE IS SANDY LOAM. SOIL IS RAPIDLY DRAINED. PLANT ALIANCE IS QUERCUS WISLIZENI SHRUBLAND ALLIANCE.
