HabitatTHE SITE IS A PEATY ISLAND SUPPORTED BY SUBMERSED LOGS. THE SURFACE IS SQUELCHY, WITH POCKETS OF WATER. THE VEGETATION GROWS OUT OF A BED OF PEAT THAT IS LEVEL WITH THE LAKE'S WATER. THE CENTER OF THE ISLAND IS THE DRIEST EVEN THOUGH IT TOO IS QUITE SATURATED WITH WATER. THE PLANT COMMUNITY DOES NOT FIT INTO AN EXISTING ALLIANCE, BUT RATHER A FORMATION: SATURATED TEMPERATE FORB VEGETATION. THE SURROUNDING FOREST CAN BE CLASSIFIED AS CALOCEDRUS DECURRENS-ALNUS RHOMBIFOLIA FOREST ASSOCIATION. SLOPE IS 0 DEGREES. ASPECT IS NONE. SURFICIAL GEOLOGY IS PEAT. COWARDIN SYSTEM IS LACUSTRINE. SOIL TEXTURE IS PEAT. SOIL IS RAPIDLY DRAINED. SITE IS SATURATED.
