population biologyPlants 4-6 ft. tall, with erect woody caudex so the leaves are ca. 1 foot (to 2 feet) above ground. Scapes glabrous and tend to be inflated. Many plants still somewhat in flower. Petioles somewhat winged, esp. proximally. Common but isolated on south facing sandy chaparral slope.
