HabitatCommon in areas, growing in rocky clay of Conejo volcanics. Southern California grassland and inland sage scrub habitat. Gentle south-facing slope, full sun. Bare, dry stony areas. Associated species: Bromus madritensis ssp. Rubens, Lasthenia californica, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Allium haematochiton.
