Locality Mojave Desert, Joshua Tree National Monument [now National Park], 'Zoo Rock,' a small mound of rock on the south side of Monument 'Route 2,' c. 3.8 mi. NW of entrance to Lost Horse Ranger Station. [Note: according to Jane Rodgers, Nursery person at the Park, 'Zoo Rock' is not listed in the Park's climbing guide, and no one knows where it is. A population of this taxon was re-located in the general area where Zoo Rock was supposed to be, and is believed to be the 'Zoo Rock' population. It is located c. 485 m south of the south end of The Negropolis, a very large and well-known climbing location. B.Pitzer, Jan. 2002]
