Locality | Joshua Tree National Monument, Live Oak Tank (ca. 3 mi. W. of junction of Keyes Point and Pinto Basin highway), on sandy floor of wash. |
Habitat | Tree 35 (40) ft. high, circumference 3 ft. from ground 7 ft., diameter 22 inches, evergreen, the new leaves and flowers about to burst, acorns borne on first year wood. A dam lower down indicates sometimes water in wash. Quercus dumosa, small trees 10-12 ft. high, adjacent to wash, typical of region. |
