Locality South Palen Lake, Chuckwalla Valley, 4.5 km SE of Sidewinder Well, 2.3 km SW of Palen Dunes Drive, and 4.2 km N of Interstate 10.

HabitatAlkaline Sink Scrub. Subshrub, pistillate, low-compact, densely-branched from base, local on playas. Sympatric A. polycarpa similarly compact in growth habit. Locally common on alkaline playa with braided dunes, mesic depressions and drainage inlets. Shrub-sized pls (var linearis) on dunes. Associated species: Atriplex polycarpa, A. canescens var. linearis, Suaeda nigra, Prosopis glandulosa torreyana, Larrea, Oenothera deltoides, Cryptantha costata, C. maritima, Geraea canscens, Oligomeris linifolia, Salsola, Brassica tournefortii and Schismus.
