HabitatBlackbrush-Yucca Scrub. Colorful bulb perennial, w/ outer leathery-brown sheath, inner bulb coats metallic red-purple, basal bulblets frequent; deep wine-colored sepals, leaves distinctively coiled. Local, shallow, in cryptogram-binded gravels of decomposed granite, thin pediment layer over bedrock. SE-draining complex of rocky drainages, granite boulders, slabs and ridges.Common name: Dark red onion.
