Locality Tahoe National Forest, Chipmunk Ridge, ca. 1 mile as the crow flies SE of French Meadows Reservoir. 0.63 miles SW off of Forest Service Road 48 along the ridge.
Elevation 1956 m
HabitatThin, rocky volcanic soils along the ridgetop, openings in Red fir-Jeffrey Pine-Incense cedar forest. Low mounding plants ranging in height from 0.5 to 0.75 meters tall. Plants in fruit. Dense population within a 1300 sq. m. area. Associates = Arctostaphylos nevadensis, Quercus vacciniifolia, Arctostaphylos patula, Eriogonum ursinum, Eriogonum wrightii var. subspicatum, Cymopterus terebinthifolius, Stipa lemmonii.
