Habitatin dry, rocky, compact reddish soil from serpentine parent material; on an east-facing slope with filtered light, within a chapparal community dominated by Ceanothus and Adenostoma fasciculatum; a common and widespread vine, woody at its base, 1-4 m long with white flowers; prostrate and twining with a taproot.
