HabitatBasin mostly above 11,000'. Lodgepole For. French Canyon up to ca. 10,400'; Subalpine for. to 11,000' (even 11,200') on favored rocky slopes; occas. Pinus albicaulis krumholtz to 11,200' - Rare specimens to 12,000'; Basin mostly alpine with extensive areas herbaceous alpine cover. This Scirpus in slightly higher spots in sodded meadowlet marginal to small pond just below 11,000' Moon Lake - the next to lowest lake on lowest lake bench on S. side the basin. Subalpine forest up slopes both N and S for short distance.
