Locality North of Truckee, Tahoe National Forest. Along Sagehen Trail which leaves east side of Hwy 89 and follows creek southward.

HabitatPinus jeffreyi forest, open woodland with meadows and moist outcrops, Wyethia, Purshia, Ceanothus integerrimus, Ceanothus prostratus. Full sun, edge of trail with Ribes and Salix near meadow. Tall perennial herb. Uncommon.
