HabitatChaparral on west-facing hillside with shallow soil derived from serpentinite parent material u (Geologic Map of California: um). Abundant. Shrub up to 3.5 m tall. Associated plant species: Mimulus aurantiacus, Heteromeles arbutifolia, Baccharis pilularis, Artemisia californica, Quercus agrifolia, Marah fabaceus, Arctostaphylos glauca, Pinus sabiniana, and Sambucus mexicana.
