HabitatOn volcanic soil, on or just north of ridge crest among openings in chaparral. (Collected at reported location for H. serpentinum which is not present. Previous H. serpentinuum collections incorrectly identified based on tricarpellate specimens--situation reported for H. bicarpellatum by H. Sharsmith.)
