Locality Colorado Desert; Chocolate-Chuckwalla Moutains region: Chocolate Mountains (Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range). North of Lion Head Mountain, near Beal Well. Surrounding desert off of Beal Road.
HabitatSteep granitic mountains surrounding a lower area, with large patch of Opuntia bigelovii on the elevated center. Plus a large sandy wash coming down into this bowl from the north. This wash is on the west side of bowl, and drains to the west side of the Chocolate Mountains. Growing on sandy soil in wash.
