Locality West of Mt. Islip: Just above eastern boundary of San Gabriel Wilderness. Ca. 4-mi closed section of Hwy. 39 from ca. 1.6 mi W of junction Crystal Lk. access rd. to junction Hwy. 2. USGS Crystal Lake 7 1/2' Quad.
HabitatOn steep rock faces above road, generally north-facing slopes, at north end of surveyed area. Steep granitic mountainsides; Quercus chrysolepis and Pinus spp. overstory; many road cuts and sandy colluvial slopes above and below hwy.

Voucher information
otherPerennial. Hypanthium pale lavender to white, sepals dark green, petals white. Keys as H. cespitosa Eastw. based on unequal filaments, but as H. elegans based on unequal sepals. Occasional to common.
