HabitatMoist, somewhat alkaline meadow forming headwaters of Dexter Creek. Soft deep pumice soil in meadow and low hills nearby,; surrounded by Pinus jeffryi and P. contorta forest upslope. Meadow vegetation dominated by Carex subnigricans, C. utriculata, and Artemisia cana, with Aster occidentalis, Mimulus prinuloides, Achillea millefolium.
