associated speciesWe tried to follow the ridge where the one Pinus pinea (my #1063) is growing to the main crest. The chaparral was too tall and thik to cut our way through, only made a short distance up ridge. The gentle slopes were the areas with tall and thick shrubs, upslope areas had steeper angles and shorter shrubs. Open areas in the chaparral had annuals. Associated plants included: Quercus durata gabrielensis, Q. berberidifolia, Adenostoma fasciculatum, Ceanothus crassifolius, Cercocarpus betuloides, Heteromeles arbutifolia, Rhus ovata, Marah macrocarpus, Eriogonum fasciculatum, Lotus scoparius, Sambucus mexicana, Salvia mellifera, Lonicera subspicata denudata, Eriophyllum confertiflorum, Solanum xanti, Navarettia hamata, Cryptantha intermedia, C. micromeres, Mimulus aurantiacus, Gnaphalium californicum, Pterostegia drymarioides, Cirsium occidentale occidentale, Bromus hordeaceus, B. madritensis rubens, B. diandrus, Melica imperfecta, Rafinesquia californica, Paeonia californica, Camissonia ignota, Antirrhinum coulterianum, Filago californica, Phacelia cicutaria hispida, Galium angustifolium, Linanthus californicus glandulosus, Centaurium venustum, Marrubium vulgare, Hirschfeldia incana, and Pentagramma triangularis.
