|Locality||South of Baldwin Lake, about 0.6 mile southeast of junction of California Route 38 and Shay Road. Slopes near the Los Vaqueros de las Montanas Arena (horse arena). Area undergoing residential development. Elevation about 6800 feet.|
|Habitat||Steep slopes, very rocky ridge, dry southwest facing slope. Bedrock apparently granitic-metamorphic; soil sandy.; Open juniper - pinyon pine woodland, bordered by large, level grassy mountain meadow below. Woody dominants on the ridge included: Juniperus, Pinus monophylla, Cercocarpus, Ephedra viridis, Fremontodendron, Artemisia, Eriodictyon, Eriogonum.; Flowers purple-blue with yellow tube, anthers blue; occasional scattered annual herb.|
