Gentle slopes, sandy gravel (decomposed granite).; Southwestern Mojave Desert, annual desert grassland, with Lupinus spp., Astragalus, Pectocarya, Lasthenia californica, Schismus, Bromus spp.; Flowers orange, erect, reflective. Frequent annual herb in large discontinuous masses, foliage glaucous, soft; fruit immature, green, erect.|
