Locality Siberian pass, in the Sierra nevada, Alpine zone at an altitude of 3320 m. This station is 3 km. northwest of Whitney Meadows and is probably the exact type locality.
HabitatCommon, Decomposed granite on many of the peaks and ridges from Cirque peak to Mt. Whitney mostly just above timberline. Occasionally within the forested area.
