HabitatMostly on clay soils developed on basalt. Mostly native grassland if Stipa pulchra, Avena barbata, and Bromus mollis, with patches of Eriogonum fasiculatum and Artemisia coastal sage scrub, small stands of Quercus agrifolia - Q. engelmannii woodland, and surrounded by stands of Adenostoma fasciculatum - Ceanothus crassifolius chaparral.
