HabitatIn shifting dune sands. A disturbed more or less graded waste area.
Voucher information
population biologySizable clump of bushy-branched annuals. Fls inconspicuous and relatively few, near tips of stems. Calyx and top of ovary light green, styles and stigmas dull yellow-green, pollen similar but paler, stamens straw-color. Frs stems and lvs a light, flat green, lvs slightly paler on lower surface (where crystalline vescicles are comparatively large). Plants somewhat succulent. While stems of this sp are frequently procumbent, specimens at coll site were mostly ascending to erect, to ca 2.5 ft tall.
associated speciesWith Carpobrotus edulis, Lotus heermannii var. eriophorus, Cakile maritima, Camissonia cheiranthifolia, Melilotus indicus, Polycarpon tetraphyllum, and Hordeum leporinum. Fairly close by were low bushes, Lupinus arboreus.
