macromorphologyMain stem has 3 ridges of sharp spines to 0.5'' long. Leaves spiny, heavily toothed, abt. 3"', located at base of side stems. Side stems have thistle at base of leaves. Thistle is pink, w/spiked base. Seed head dries to brown.
