Associated species include: Pinus monophylla, Yucca brevifolia, Quercus cornelius-mulleri, Purshia tridentata glandulosa, Forestiera pubescens, Sphaeralcea ambigua, Epilobium canum, Ericameria cooperi, Artemisia ludoviciana, Baccharis sergiloides, and Salix lasiolepis. Growing on dry slopes.;
