Open area, new growth coming back, and a lot of trunks and branches to maneuver under or over, in this steep, deep canyon that gets hit by avalanches. Associated plant species include: Pinus jeffreyi, Abies concolor, Calocedrus decurrens, Quercus kelloggii, Populus trichocarpa, Salix lasiolepis, S. lutea, S. scouleriana, Alnus rhombifolia, Prunus emarginata, Ribes nevadense, R. cereum, Equisetum hyemale affine, E. laevigatum, E. arvense, Mimulus cardinalis, Athyrium filix-femina cyclosorum, Castilleja miniata, Heracleum lanatum, Stachys albens, Aquilegia formosa, Sencio triangularis, Platanthera leucostachys, Agrostis exarata, Carex subfusca, C. occidentalis, Chamerion angustifolium, and Lupinus latifolius parishii.
