HabitatSandy decomposed granite road margins surrounded by dense S-facing Quercus chaparral. With Quercus chrysolepis, Q. wizlezenii, Adenostoma, Arctostaphylos, Eriodyction, Keckellia, Chrysothamnus, Eriogonum spp., occasional Pinus coulteri, and widely scattered Bromus tectorum.
