HabitatMontane coniferous forest, often with large oak component. Pinus ponderosa, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Calocedrus decurrens, Quercus chrysolepis, Q. kelloggii, Ceanothus integerrimus. Decomposed granite soil.

Notes4320 plants in 40 clusters, early- to mid-flower. More often on local E-SE facing slopes 35-45% with part to lots of shade. Plants are farther into fruit in sunnier areas. Dry, usually little duff <0.5 inches. Associates: Arabis breweri, Apocynum X floribundum, Carex multicaulis, Eriodictyon californica, Malacothrix floccosa, Mimulus aurantiacus, Lotus oblongifolius, Vulpia myuros, Styrax officinalis var. rediviva.;
