Habitat20 deg. S-facing open granitic slab with glacial polish and erratics. Occasional Pinus jeffreyi, Juniperus occidentalis, Acrtostaphylos patula. Wet mossy seeps in cracks paint black stripes down the slabs, supporting rich microflora including Lotus oblongifolius, Muhlenbergia andina, Heterocodon rariflorum, Trichostema oblongum, Spiranthes romansoffiana, Collinsia tinctora.
