Locality Chocolate Moutains (Chocolate Moutain Aerial Gunnery Range). North of Lion Head Mountain, near Beal Well. Surrounding desert off of Beal Road.

HabitatSteep granitic mountains surrounding a lower area, with a large patch of Opuntia bigelovii on elevated center. Plus a large sandy wash coming down into this bowl from the north. This wash is on the west side of bowl, and drains to the west side of the Chocolate Mountains. Associated species include: Larrea tridentata, Ambrosia dumosa, Opuntiaramosissima, Ferocactus sp., Mammillaria sp., Peucephyllum schottis, Fagonia pachyacantha, F. laevis, Hibiscus denudatus, Bebbia juncea aspera, Eriogonum inflatum, E. thomasii, E. deflxum, Cryptantha barbigera,C. martima, C. angustifolia, Phacelia crenulata ambigua, Mentzelia involucrata, Cercidium floridium, Porophyllum gracile, Senna armata, Olneya tesota, Hyptis emoryi, Ditaxis lancelata, Brandegea bigelovii, Physalis crassifolia, Camissonia brevipes, C. boothii condensata, C. refracta, Chamasyce polycarpa hirtella, C. setiloba, Encelia farinosa, Aliciella latifolia, Plantago ovata, Chaenactis carphoclinia, Sarcostemma hitellum, Eschscholzia minutiflora, Perityle emoryi, Salvia columbariae, Trixis californica, Mimulus bigelovii, Tiquilla canescens, Psorothamnus schottis, Aristida adscenisionis, Chorizanthe brevicornu, Cheilanthes parryi and Monoptilon bellioides.
