HabitatRidgeline and upper slopes with clayey soil developed on deposits of rounded cobbles of metasedimentary and volcanic rocks; Unusual low, open chaparral of very stunted, rounded shrubs of Adenostoma fasciculatum, Arctostaphylos glandulosa, Eriogonum fasciculatum, and Salvia mellifera. Generally much less than 1 m tall.
