Locality Liebre Mountains region: Knapp Ranch area at upper end of Castaic Creek drainage in broad alluvial valley at head of Cienaga Canyon, south of Liebre Mountain.
Elevation 866m
HabitatBroad, gently sloping valley floor of deep alluvium, mostly of decomposed granite, steep slopes to east and west of old ranch compound mostly reddish metamorphics. Extensive wetland in valley bottom with soils of saturated loam to sandy loam, water running on the surface in many areas.

Notes<coords cont.: E/2 SW/4>; Prostrate perennial herb, locally common on dry benches of side drainage northeast of Platanus grove. Slopes characterized by dense chaparral of Adenostoma fasciculatum, Cercocarpus betuloides, Quercus wislizeni, Quercus berberidifolia, and Rhamnus ilicifolia on shallower soils more xeric exposures with open stands of Eriogonum fasciculatum, Saliva apiana, and Eriophyllum confertiflorum. Deep alluvial soils of fan with mosaic of dense low scrub of Eriogonum fasciculatum, Eriodictyon crassifolium var. nigrescens, and Chrysothamnus nauseosus; spring areas with overstory of Baccharis salicifolia, Salix lasiolepis, s. laevigata, S. exigua, understory of dense stands of Carex, Anemopsis californica, Juncus mexicana.;
