NotesIn Joshua tree woodland, with Yucca brevifolia, Y. schidigera, Opuntia echinocarpa and low ragged perennial shrubs. Old shrub (1.5-2 m tall) with ragged, open crown, many stems from the ground, ovuliferous cones with whitish-glaucous bloom. Note: the dioecism of this taxon is not always absolute. Vern.: California juniper.;
