Phyllospadix scouleri, Robert R. Haynes 1995
NotesRocky shore (attached to rocks with algae). Herb. Mixed with abundant algae (washed ashore) incl. Fucus, Macrosystis, Plocamium, Gigartina, Ulva, Postelsia, etc. leaves distinctly flattened (ribbonlike), unlike the wiry, terete lvs. of P. torreyi; spadix one, on short peduncle near rhizome (unlike P. torreyi which has several (2-5) spadices on a much longer peduncle); several plants in flower; acc. to Hoover (Flora of San Luis Obispo Co., 1970), the distribution of this sp. in San Luis Obispo Co. is unknown, and P. torreyi is more commonly found (washed ashore by wave action).;
