NotesRobust, fall-flowering Death Valley annual with erect involures (sessile) and white to pink flowers; the leaves shut sheathng. The var. hoffmannii is of the Panamint Mountains and has smooth leaf margins. The var. robustius is on the Funeral and Black Mountains and has waxy-marginated leaves; Rare and endemic - compare deflexum, insigne, bifurcatum, brachypodum and rixfordii;
