NotesUpper Sonoran-- This and Artemisia tridentata. Sun, moist loam with clay and granite, open flats and hills. Tree, height 20 ft., spread 15-20 ft., trunk diameter 24 in., dominant. Many small trees 1-2 ft. high here-- and due to the clay soil and lack of roots are easily dug. Roots fairly fibrous. At this elevation the top 4-6 inches of soil is frequently frozen and as a result is loosened and mellow. Prop. No. 3928, plants. Supplementary collections: wood.;
