Locality Mott Lake, 10,000 feet, 1 1/2 mile from headwaters N Fork Mono Creek. 2 1/4 mile W of 12,841 foot Red and White Mountain on Sierran crest. Lake faces SW on step in 1500' glacial canyon.

NotesSparse stands small Pinus albicaulis, P. murrayana, some Tsugas around lake; latter two to 10,500' protected slopes; P. monticola with them S and E slopes; P. albicaulis krumholtz to 11,500' crests where footholds. Hieraceum from perennial bases in crevices of rock ledges on 15' ridge on step near outlet of lake.;
