HabitatGrowing in deeply cracked, black adobe soil (Raynor clay), on large playa, in valley plains; this playa is gray-green with Eremocarpus, the dominant plant, with Boisduvalia and Orcuttia scattered throughout, the Orcuttia seemingly more abundant where there is less Eremocarpus
