HabitatLodgepole forest French Canyon up to ca. 10400'; subalpine forest to 11000' (even 11200') on favored rocky slopes occasionally Pinus albicaulis krumholtz to 11200' - rare specimens to 12000'. Basin mostly alpine with extensive herbaceous alpine cover.
