NotesLodgepole forest piute Canyon up to 10,400-10,600 ; subalpine forest to 10,800 (even 11,200 on few favored rocky slopes). Occas. Pinus albicaulis krumholtz to 11,200 rare specimens to 11,600 ; basin mostly above 11,000 and alpine with extensive areas herbaceous alpine cover. This yellow headed Carex in thick clumps with spreading culms-freq. among small rocks in margin of very small tarn at ca. 11,120 in a moraine, short distance W and above Desolation Creek. ca. 3/4 mile N-NE of Golden Trout Lake. Other Carices, Gyyceria, etc.;
