HabitatLodgepole forest French Canyon up to ca. 10400'. Subalpine forest to 11000' (even 11200') on favored rocky slopes. Occasionally Pinus albicaulis Krumholtz to 11200' - rare specimens to 12000'. Basin mostly alpine with extensive area herbaceous alpine cover.

NotesThis grass from 12,000' crest at Sierras on top of long, sandy, gravelly, rocky slope facing w., 1.5 map miles e. of Pine Crk. Pass. Mt. Tom (13,652') immed. e., then Owens val. & White Mts. The long slope & the crest look barren from below, actually a good plant list. -richer on crest than on slope.;
