HabitatGrowing in shade of Q. agrifolia and piinua. More common in open chaparral than in this area. Pinus sabiniana, Quercus agrifolia, Q. chrysolepis the dominants on more open slopes; Umbellularia californica and occasionally Arbutus menziesii in moister draws. Vegetation fairly open.
