Locality Agua Tibia Mountains: western end of range, south of Pechanga Indian Reservation and east of Magee Road, the large grassland area on upper western flank of Agua Tibia Mountains visible from considerable distance.

HabitatFlat ridgetop and relatively gentle north-facing slopes, clay-loam soil developed on outcrops of gabbro. Within area burned in fall 2000 Pechange fire. Open grassy areas. Locally common about oaks.
