Locality La Panza Range: Western side of the Machesna Mountain Wilderness. American Canyon Campground., Near 35.28461N 120.26558W. Follow trail up to last creek crossing, below stock pond. Near the main ridge line. Ended near 35.29415N 120.23097W.
Elevation 538m
HabitatCampground is in a Quercus douglasii woodland, with some Pinus sabiniana. Short distance up trail the oak woodland remains. But emerge into a shallow soil, sunny dominant Adenostoma fasciculatum forest. Higher up becomes more of Arctostaphylos -Ceanothus- etc chaparral. Soil seems to be a sandstone. Riparian site that we ended was only damp. Growing along trail. In Adenostoma forest.
