Notes | <coords cont.: NE1/4 NW1/4>; Perennial, 3 tall. Floral and vegetative characters correspond to ssp. maritimum, including the persistent basal leaves (in which the lobes are >6 mm wide at their base). This is a main character separating this ssp. with the more common ssp. parryi. The habitat at this site is coastal sage scrub, but the locality is some 30+ miles from the coast. Although this is a large geographical distance, the area contains many species that are considered Coastal / Desert Disjuncts , including Oligomeris linearis, Harpagonella palmeri, Stillingia linearifolia and Lycium andersonii. These facts conclude me to recognize this ssp. for the area until additional taxonomic of floristic data becomes available.; |
