Habitat | Steep, north-facing slopes, in loose talus of limestone rocks (primarily gray dolomite). Hillside dominated by Cercocarpus ledifolius, Abies concolor, Pinus flexilis, P. monophylla and Juniperus osteosperma. In dense duff in shade and in open areas. |

Notes | Leaves lance-shaped, some nearly lance-ovate, sessile, widest below middle or at middle. Inflorescence sub-umbellate. Leaves succulent and sparkly with dark purple/beet red abaxial coloration. Stems not extending far off the ground. 200-300 individuals seen in ~1 acre area.; |
