macromorphologyCypress trees in this area range from 10-60 ft. high: Tree 1. 40 ft. high, 20 ft. spread, trunk 2 ft. diameter; Tree 2. 40 ft. high, 20 ft. spread, trunk 18 inches diameter at ground. Trunks a single straight stem with cherry-like bark. Few old trees with gray furrowed bark, but higher up and on branches, cherry-like. In open, on Burney Reforestation Project, some clumps or trees 10-15 ft. high (old stands not planted) are attractive looking specimens. First trees on Burney Springs-Hat Creek R. S.Road are about 8 miles from Hat Creek Ranger Station
