Locality Big Tujunga Wash/Verdugo Mountains: Orcas Park, entered from Foothill Blvd. onto Orcas Ave. Hiked west from park, heading toward Hansen Dam. East side of Hansen Dam, close to a deep depression (manmade) that has a few Salix growing in it.
Elevation 324 m
HabitatFlat sandy area. Associated shrubs: Eriogonum fasciculatum var. foliolosum, Malosma laurina, Sambucus mexicana, Rhus integrifolia, Ribes aureum, Rhamnus crocea, and Eriodictyon crassifolium. Large specimen, about 20 feet tall and 50 feet broad.
